    Winter Sun and User

    WINTER SUN

Winter Sun, the Melbourne based Australian band, is a strange creature.

The band thrust listeners from dark to light, sweet to bitter, each song it’s own. Tales of death and madness told with lush vocal harmonies, waves of percussion and honeyed guitar. Heavy Blues counterpoint freak show cynicism, Post Punk Funk leaps from Garage Rock.

The constants are melody, space, precision and hooks. There’s a Pop spine in this creature.

Black Lips, Dead Trees is the first album from Melbourne’s Winter Sun

    .

    USER

A Melbourne based duo featuring Andrew Nunns (Guitar) and Frank Galgano (Vox & Bass). Described as a post-past, new wave, glow rave, two gaze, gloom machine with visuals a plenty. Guest drop in from time to time to enjoy the trip, Tara G. (White Hex), Laura T. (Winter Sun), Deon S. (WARS, Dearth) and Hayden M. (The Bleeding Flares)

    Friday 1 June

Mr Manifold & the Menswear Department

Mr. Manifold & The Menswear Department are a 3-piece live electro funk soul act from Melbourne, Victoria. Blending sexy, sassy soulful vocals with live saxophone, guitar and big bassfunk productions.

With only a small set up, they hold a big sound. Mr. Manifold brings the beats and the bass on the decks and also holds the rhythm with some funky wikky-wah-wah guitar.

Miss Dandelion Jackson brings to the plate a lot of band and musical experience playing with loads of bands around Melbourne with very diverse genres. She is a sax-wielding maniac and doesn't mind flaunting her skills on stage.

Lady Renoir has a background in theatre and performance and it really shines through on stage with her sensual style of soulful vocals.

The Offtopics with special Guest Jo Cotsonis

    Free entry from 7pm

    The Offtopics

"From Bourbon Street in New Orleans to Memphis and Jamaica via the bars of Brunswick, The Offtopics deliver infectious songs that will make you tap your feet and bring a smile to your face. Fronted by funk dynamo Polash Larsen, these are some of Melbourne’s most talented musicians working their basses off to show you a good time.

Start with the classic guitar, bass and drums, then add some keys and a few of the hardest-wailing horn players you’ve never heard – but who you damn well should. They’re a little bit bluesy, a little bit funky, a little bit rock and roll. And before you know it, their witches’ brew of classic grooves will have you out of your seat and up on the dance floor."

    Jo Cotsonis:

"As a kid, Jo was a classical pianist who loved to sing, and later dreamed of being an opera singer. But after years of study (+ whiskey and cigarettes...), she proved to be a naughty classical student who dropped out and crossed over to the dark side....cover bands!

Then after heading up the original, stupendously fun retro-pop band 'Wicked Annabel' (2011 - 2013), she decided it was time to start writing and performing her own stuff: raw, soulful music full of emotion that flicks between the dark and quirky, with an unconventional classical edge that just couldn't be unlearned...."

    Angus Roy + PJ Orr

    The Enter Space Tour

Two travellers, Angus Roy and PJ Orr, four years estranged…

Once fused through the decade-band, Hailer, the two have taken their songs on parallel journeys in recent years. Cutting their own solo long-player’s, continuing to wield the guitar at the creative core. Songs and songs and songs have flowed and movements made to new albums, but shows have been sparse… That is about to change.

This June, AR’s stretched out tales of love and loss will travel up from Melbourne and piggy back PJ’s psychedelic, Sydney-membrane on a revolving-headline run of shows between their two hometowns. There’ll be plenty of new tunes floating along, with the shows acting as pre-cursor to their respective sophomore LPs.

Keep an eye on the skies this winter, as the two re-unite and ENTER SPACE.
